40+40=40%?
Hey, thanks for being here!
I'm John Woods, from Kansas City. Like many people, I spent over 30 years of my life working for the “man,” in retail stores and the last 20 years in call centers. I’ve worked for what I call the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to bosses - and few had true leadership or people skills or worked to inspire me or anyone else for that matter.

Yes, I subscribed to the 40/40/40 Plan: you've heard of it, the typical retirement process where most people spend 40+ hours a week, working for 40+ years only to live off of 40% of their income from Social Security - 40% of the income they struggled on when they were earning 100% of it.
I worked 13 years at my LAST corporation, only to be laid off because the organization was “going in a different direction.” However, my boss let me go just two weeks before I planned to give my notice. This was one of the BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE - FREEDOM!
You see, I started planning my departure from the "man" two years prior when my last company had a massive layoff - that I somehow survived. Have you ever been a survivor during a large layoff? It feels like your boat went down and you can barely keep your head above water. You find yourself doing the work that 3 or 4 people used to do. You get no extra money for your new workload but you got to keep your job, and they tell you how thankful you should be - yeah!
The people who had their hands at the wheel of this train wreck were still there my last day. These people were at the top of this giant pyramid scheme called Corporate America - “C” level executives with their golden parachutes ready to launch. How could I have faith in a cronyism system like this? Can you relate?

Every corporate America company I worked for was shaped like a pyramid in structure and also how much I was paid. Did you ever earn more money than your boss?

Despite this, I experienced a great amount of success in the corporate world - but not without the sacrifice of my family time, freedom and a lot of stress. However, I believe I have helped many people, both personally and professionally, on my teams along my corporate journey. Through this I have countless people I call my friends and family, and for that I am forever grateful.
I was determined the best time to find a new opportunity was NOW, on my terms, when I already had a career or "job," not when I was desperate or barely making ends meet or when my employer decided to part ways with me. A couple of years before my "layoff", during my quest to lose weight I had gained through many years of long hours at work and the convenience of fast-food (you know the drive-thru we go to when you've run out of time and energy in your day) I stumbled upon the power and opportunity of residual income - the freedom that entrepreneurship brings. I learned how to “Own My Life” and realized how amazing it feels to do whatever I want, whenever I want to do it! Yes, to be in charge of my own destiny - to "transform" my life and my health!
It really struck me what life was about, and how truly blessed I was, the second week of my new found "freedom." On a Friday morning at about 8:30AM (when I'd normally be at work) I was home enjoying my morning coffee and I caught an amazing sight on video from the window of my house:
Isn't she just beautiful? She paid me a visit every day for 3 weeks (this was March) and didn't come back again until Thanksgiving Day.

The top of her back stands over 6 feet tall, she is huge but as sweet as can be - from a distance :)

She's a lone moose in this part of the forest and comes to visit ever so often.
These videos became a worldwide sensation and led to millions of views on social media and countless contacts from media outlets. There were many more photo ops and face to face encounters with "Momma Moose" that I cherish and I am so grateful to have experienced.
I guess my point is this - a lot more special moments would have been missed if I didn't have the benefit of "time freedom," which I believe besides good health and happiness, is the the most important human benefit of all. I call it "things I couldn't do" #WorkingForTheMan :)

It's easy to convince yourself that it will be alright and stay where you are, but that's what 97% of the population does and they are broke or in debt. Most people lack one of the two most important factors to true freedom: time or money. If you don't have enough of time or money, you need to ask yourself if it's time to do something different. Isn't it crazy to continue to do the same thing and expect different results?
I refused to accept that working all week to pay bills until 70 was all life had in store for me!
