Are You Drinking Plastic From Your Water Bottle?

We all know that plastics can be harmful, but did you know that you might actually be drinking plastic?

In a very scary recent study, researchers found that 93% of bottled water samples contained toxic microplastics, tiny fragments of plastics that evade minimum filtration attempts and can spread a large number of harmful toxins throughout the body.

The dangers of drinking grocery-store bottled water just keep piling up, and if you’ve been hesitating to make the switch from disposable bottles filled with glorified tap water swimming with toxins and even microscopic bits of plastic to safe, reusable, filtered water bottles the time is now. When you think about how essential clean, pure water is for life and our health, it’s an easy choice to make.

Also, do you know where your water comes from? Labels might say “mountain spring” or “glacier pure” but that doesn’t mean that what’s inside is truly pure. Only a few bottled water companies actually use spring or groundwater sources. In fact, more than 1 in 4 bottled water companies use water straight from the tap, only taking minimal steps to filter or radiate the water before calling it “pure” and marking up the cost by several thousand times. Top-selling brands such as Aquafina and Dasani are guilty of this along with many others.

If you’re thinking of cutting the cord when it comes to water bottles, the cost to your health isn’t the only thing to consider. There’s also the cost to your wallet. Investing in a scientifically-proven water filter-equipped bottle of stainless steel or BPA and other toxin-free plastic is much less damaging to your wallet than any other alternative.
