An alkaline body is considered a body at balance, with pH levels that help our systems perform at their best, boosting immunity and energy, and helping to maintain a healthy weight. When the body gets out of balance, it slips into an acidic state that promotes the growth of bad bacteria and yeast.
The easiest way to control the alkaline state of the body is through the foods and nutritional supplements we consume each day. Balanced pH levels, between 7.35 and 7.45, are considered to be in an alkaline state. By eating alkalizing foods such as fruits and vegetables, you can support your body’s pH balance. Processed foods, sugars and refined carbs, however, will tip the balance the wrong way, resulting in an acidic state with symptoms that include a runny nose, fatigue, skin breakouts, or irritable bowels.
The best approach to helping your body maintain a healthy pH balance is through a healthy menu and high-quality nutritional supplements. Eating clean by adding lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and minimally-processed foods to your diet is a good way to start. Cruciferous and green vegetables are among the best options for promoting alkalinity. Peas, berries, citrus fruits, and melons are also known to be alkaline-producing. Another good bet is to add high-quality nutritional supplements that also support an alkaline state, including zeolite, calcium, and magnesium.
